Kaumberg
The market town of Kaumberg in the district of Lilienfeld lies at the source of the river that gave the Triestingtal its name - as well as directly on the "Via Sacra", the pilgrimage route from Vienna to Mariazell. The scenic contrast between the rolling hills of the Vienna Woods and the foothills of the Alps is particularly attractive here. In addition to Kaumberg itself, the densely wooded municipality also includes the villages of Höfnergraben, Laabach, Obertriesting, Untertriesting and Steinbachtal.
Kaumberg: Araburg castle & great animal hiking trails
The adventurous Araburg castle at 800 meters above sea level is the highest castle ruin in Lower Austria. The observation tower offers magnificent panoramic views. Exciting castle games take place here every two years. The Kaumberg Museum of Local History - built partly from quarry stones from the Araburg - traces the history of the community with an extensive permanent exhibition and entertaining special shows.
The "animal" hiking routes from Kaumberg - such as the fox trail circular tour, the four-hour frog trail or the scenic deer trail across meadows and through the forest - are not only motivating in terms of their names, but also for young hikers.
Summer & winter: Vacations in Kaumberg
Kaumberg is a hot excursion tip in the cold season. With the Brandlwiese, the municipality has its own small ski area - with a practical platter ski lift. A vacation at Camping Paradise Garden is wonderful in summer: In the middle of the Vienna Woods, the crickets sing their lullaby while the neighboring sheep graze peacefully during the day. And all year round, comfortable accommodation and traditional inns invite you to eat, drink and spend the night in Kaumberg.
