The Prochenberg hut, the jewel of the Ybbstal Alps, is perched at 1,123 m not far from the Prochenberg summit near Ybbsitz. From the village, the Alpine Club hut can be reached on foot or by mountain bike in around one to one and a half hours. Current information on opening times can be found here.
From the lookout point next to the hut, you not only have a view of the countless wooded elevations of the Lower Austrian Prealps, but also of the village of Ybbsitz, the Iron Road and its history. Parking facilities for hikers are available at the Mitterlehen farmhouse in Prolling or the Haselstein farmhouse, accessible via the Prochenberg goods road.
