Weingut Doktor Wunderer

The Doktor Wunderer winery, located in Straning, is the result of a dream that was realized around three years ago by a general practitioner and psychiatrist and his life partner, a sommelier and top chef. They have developed around eight hectares of vineyards into a sophisticated and sustainable wine project.

The winery is located in one of the coolest regions in Austria, in the northern Weinviertel, and borders directly on the rugged Waldviertel to the west. Here, the winery takes advantage of the climatic changes and develops wines that are characterized by the freshness and mineral tautness for which Austria is famous in the wine world, especially Grüne Veltliner. Despite the warming climate, the winery succeeds in keeping Grüne Veltliner as fresh, light-footed and aromatic as it should be. The Sauvignon Blanc and Müller-Thurgau grape varieties are also currently cultivated. The vineyards are cultivated according to organic guidelines and are certified organic.

The Doktor Wunderer winery attaches great importance to attractiveness. The label chosen for the elegant yet fresh wines alludes with a wink to the medical background of the founders. A depicted torso locates the senses for pleasure and lust as well as the vital instincts and the center for eroticism.
