The ascent to St. Michael/Bruckbach among cyclists is named after the famous mountain in Provence. Difficult terrain along the Moststraße - great panorama as a reward!
Opis
The first 10km lead through the Redtenbach valley up to Kreuzgruber Höhe. After a fast descent, the second ascent soon follows into the quaint pilgrimage village of Maria Neustift. Through the Raming valley towards Steyr it tends to go downhill, before turning right and changing to the Urltal by a fairly steep ascent, where a few flat kilometers give the legs some rest.
Soon you turn right again and see above the church of St. Michael at Bruckbach. Like a gentle giant, the Grasberg rises before you, the street quickly climbs with over 12% gradient. Like Mont Ventoux in Provence, the mountain can become very challenging as it is free of trees. The effort is worth it - at the top you are rewarded with a fabulous view over the Mostviertel, especially the Moststraße.
It continues a bit along the ridge until the descent down into Urltal and via Ertl and a last short climb you roll back to Waidhofen.
